On May 3, 1959 a new church venture began under the watch care of Oxford Baptist Church. The new mission church held its meetings in the Masonic Lodge and called the Reverend Tom Jones to be its first pastor.
On June 14, 1959 the new mission was given the name Delrayno Baptist Chapel. Property was later acquired at the site known as Lake Ray.
On October 2, 1960, Delrayno Baptist Church was constituted with 88 charter members. The first messengers to the Flat River Baptist Association were seated on October 18, 1960.
Ground breaking ceremonies for a new meeting house were held on February 18, 1962 and a dedication service for the finished building was held on October 21, 1962.
The church’s present membership is 382.
Through the years Delrayno has had a significant impact upon the community and mission causes. Ministries and programs include Women’s Mission Union, Brotherhood, Hands & Feet Ministry, youth group, children’s activities, senior adult program, creative arts program, and a full compliment of music opportunities, including pre-school choir, children’s choir, youth choir, adult choir, handbell choir, instrumental ensemble, and praise team. Delrayno’s drive-through, living nativity, witnesses and ministers to over 4,000 people annually-the second weekend of December.
